Reports, research papers, textbooks, contracts — PDFs are where long reading piles up. SpeedRead extracts the text from your PDF and streams it to you one word at a time using RSVP (Rapid Serial Visual Presentation), so a 40-page report that would take an hour reads in 20–25 minutes.
How it works
- Drop your PDF below or click to browse.
- SpeedRead extracts the text — entirely in your browser, page by page.
- Set your speed (start around 300 WPM) and press play.
Your PDF never leaves your device
Text extraction runs locally in your browser using PDF.js — the same engine Firefox uses to display PDFs. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so confidential reports and unpublished papers stay confidential.
Works with long documents
Multi-hundred-page PDFs are fine: extraction shows progress as it works through the pages, and the reader shows an estimated reading time up front so you know what you are committing to. Password-protected PDFs are detected and reported clearly.
Scanned PDFs
SpeedRead reads the text layer of a PDF. If your document is a pure image scan with no text layer (no OCR), there is no text to extract — run it through an OCR tool first, then upload the result.
